People were never my need — platonic love

Reading Time: 2 min

People were never my need. Perspectives were. Hearts were. Souls were. People beyond people were.

I always enjoyed people I could unapologetically be my true self with. I always had a desire for someone to be safe being human with. I always had the search going on for personalities that were not only intellectually but also emotionally growing.

The ones I could share my silence with. The ones I could talk about novae and supernovae explosions with. The ones I could discuss the redemption and war arcs with.

The ones I could feel comfortable being vulnerable with. The ones I could grow with. The ones I could wait for meteor showers with. The ones I could get excited over dark DNA with.

The ones I could narrate poetry to. The ones I could walk on pedestals unshod and come untidy, clumsy, messy in front of.

I still enjoy people who make you feel comfortable wearing your skin and owning your growth. People who make you feel blessed for actually existing.

People who are worth spending time with because it’s worth trading your solitude for their company, and there’s no loss. People you can discuss ordinary life with over a cup of tea.

People you can peel oranges, make meringue pies, and bake croissants for. People with a soul worth diving into and a heart worth being looked after.

People have never been my need. Perspectives are. Souls are. Hearts are. People beyond people are.
